LUSH Adelaide – New Store for all your Lushie needs

It’s not exactly a secret that I’m a giant LUSH fangirl. Last time I was at a LUSH event was when LUSH Marion hosted us for the Bloggers United AU birthday celebration. On that particular occasion, myself and Felicia from Beauty and the Geek AU showed our competitive spirits and ended up winning a huge haul of LUSH products that I’m still working my way through.

So when I received an invitation to the opening of the new store in Rundle Mall courtesy of Promote SA, I was more than a bit excited.

LUSH’s Adelaide store has long been a place wherein I spend far too much money, but the tiny store always made for a challenging trip. More often than not you’d have to (as politely as possible) elbow your way through crowds just to get to the products you needed to grab. And forget about actually testing out and browsing products.

I’m pleased to say that those days are LONG gone. The new Rundle Mall store is officially the biggest in Australia! I’m over-the-moon that little Adelaide has gained this title. It’s so nice to see a business recognising their huge fan base in a relatively small town and capitalising on it.

The evening started with a warm welcome from the staff, a slew of bubbles from the bubble machine and the immediate offer of a cocktail themed around some of the LUSH products.

It was a cute idea and a nice way to start the evening.

The new space is huge, but more importantly the flow of the store is excellent. There’s clearly designated areas for the different types of products as well as demo spaces and an event area. It’s pretty evident for anyone who has had the fun of checking out the Oxford Street store in London that this place has drawn its cues from there. Fun fact: a lot of the wood used in store is reclaimed wood from the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

Across the evening, we were treated to product demonstrations, chats about the products and the company values, as well as a chance to shop!

We heard two speeches, one of which was delivered by Peta Granger, the director of LUSH Australia. She spent some time outlining the values LUSH promotes, which is part of what makes them such a great company to support. Peta talked about some of the charitable endeavours the company is funding overseas. One of their products which goes a long way to supporting this is the Charity Pot. Proceeds from that fund seven different projects from the Sustainable LUSH Fund. Gotta love that! As Peta said, you really do “choose the world you want to live in every time you open your wallet”.

One of the demonstrations was for their new bath bomb, Never Mind the Ballistics (and yes, it is a nod to the Sex Pistols in case you were wondering). This bomb is part of their Christmas range and I think the scent fits in nicely with summer. It has lime and sweet wild orange oils, making it smell really fresh. It also contains Fair Trade cocoa butter to help soften the skin. It smelled amazing and I can’t wait to try it out in my own tub.

Next up was the reusable bubble bath bar ‘The Magic of Christmas’. It had such a pretty glitter to it!

We also got to make our own “Shoot for the Stars” bath bomb (which I really sucked at – oops. Lucky it was just for me). I loved this one because it smells like the “Honey I washed the kids” soap. This is a new version of a previous bomb by the same name, and whilst I never tried the original this one is definitely a winner for me. It turns the water a gorgeous shade of blue and smells lovely.

We got a sniff of the “Golden Wonder” bath bomb too (are you noticing my obsession with bath bombs yet?) and I loved this scent – so much so that I went ahead and bought it! It turns out this bath bomb has quite a complex construction process as it is multilayered. I love that even though it looks gold on the outside it turns the water a bright mix of colours.

After spending a lot of time looking around the store and chatting to various employees and fellow bloggers, I decided it was time to get shopping. LUSH had very kindly given us a gift card to use, but naturally I managed to overspend (shocking I know).

I got:

  • Twilight Bath Bomb – $6.95
  • Sleepy Body Lotion 215g – $32.95
  • Relax gift box – $27.50
  • Calavera Knot Wrap – $6.95
  • Golden Wonder Bath Bomb – $8.95
  • Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb – $7.95
  • Snow Fairy Shower Gel 250g – $18.50
  • Intergalactic Bath Bomb – $8.95
  • Never Mind the Ballistics Bath Bomb – $8.95

Most of these are old favourites (or new!) but it’s worth mentioning a couple of products in particular.

The Relax gift box comes with a Butterball bath bomb, a French Kiss Bubble Bar and the Twilight Shower Gel. It is, much to my sadness, the only place you can get the Twilight Shower Gel in Australia. Twilight is probably my absolute favourite scent in the LUSH range. I find it incredibly soothing and comforting, so I couldn’t resist the urge to pick this one up. The French Kiss Bubble Bar is also a favourite, but honestly I get it almost entirely for the shower gel!

The Sleepy Body Lotion is another one worth mentioning. It’s limited edition and part of their Christmas range, which I’m actually really bummed about because IT’S ALSO THE TWILIGHT SCENT! I nearly lost my mind with excitement when I realised. I usually rarely use body lotions because I’m in too much of a hurry in the morning and I forget at night, but since getting this one I haven’t missed it once. It is, as the name would have you believe, excellent for right before bed as it’s so calming. I highly recommend getting your hands on this before it’s gone.

Believe it or not, there’s still a bunch of products I want to try out. I almost regret stocking up so much on bath bombs and missing out on other things! (Almost being the key word there – bath bombs rock)

I really have to thank LUSH for hosting us, as well as Promote SA and Bloggers United AU for bringing everyone together to celebrate. I had an amazing time at the event and am so excited that we have such a great store here in Adelaide now. I think people are rightly going to go crazy over it and love having the room to really take their time and check out the different products.

As for me, I already have a new wishlist in the works!

What are your LUSH favourites?
